In a world where zoo animals are roaming urban environments without the help of humans, the tiny but mighty prairie dog would have to adapt their ways to increase their survival. With the increased number of predators, prairie dogs will need to become more cautious to ensure their species' safety. Prairie dogs use different techniques to survey their surroundings, increasing their chances of survival. The PrairieDome allows the prairie dog to scan their surroundings without having to leave their burrows and be vulnerable to predators. The PrairieDome is a clear dome that surrounds an opening to the Prairie Dog burrow. With reflective material on the outside of the dome, the dome will be camouflaged from predators.

Kaia's Final Brief - The Anapulsion is a second skin base that helps anacondas swim faster. The device includes many small bellows that will propel water, also helping the anaconda glide through rough waters.

The Anapulsion helps an anaconda move through the deep waters of Boston in a smooth, fast, and silent way. The base of The Anapulsion consists of many small parts that are attached together to create a mechanism that will ‘slither’ with the anaconda as it swims. The small parts are attached with small attachments that make the mechanism very flexible. This base will act as a second skin to the snake. Attached to the base will be pockets that propel the anaconda forward using jet propulsion. The pockets will be filled with water as the snake swims forward. The anaconda utilizes the concertina method which activates the mechanism that uses jet propulsion. The Anapulsion is directed towards anacondas but can be used by all snakes. When crossing large bodies of water, or when they need to move faster.

Sienas Brief

The Gorilla Hut is a restful location for gorillas to calm down and be ready to face the day. Gorillas struggle with high-stress levels, in fact, Western Lowland Gorillas are known to be one of the most stressed subspecies of gorillas.

Western Lowland Gorillas are known to experience high stress and are critically endangered. They get stressed when the weather is unstable when there are predators hunting them when they don’t have time to sleep, when there is no healthy and fibrous food, and dehabitation. The Gorilla Hut has a wooden frame surrounded by flexible rope, the rope is added because gorillas main sleeping positions are leaning on a tree and lying down on the ground. There is also a mattress that fits into the base of the habitat. Since precipitation is stressful for gorillas, the frame is surrounded by waterproof fabric. The habitat is half-open so that the gorillas can breathe fresh air and be relaxed. The gorillas usually sleep in a circular nest, so this habitat has a circular base that is 5ft in diameter, and the habitat is 5ft tall. This is useful to a gorilla because it gives them a safe space to relax.

Uliana's Brief

The Gorilla Hut is a permanent space for Western Lowland Gorillas to set up a nest and relax in. This species of gorillas are known to experience high-stress levels.

Western Lowland Gorillas are stressed when in their natural habitat because of rapidly changing weather, or predators such as leopards hunting them. They also experience stress from lack of rest and habitat destruction. On the other hand gorillas in captivity also experience stress, and can even form scar tissue on their hearts from lack of proper fibrous food.

The Gorilla Hut is a tensile structure using a cave-like frame and strings to create a solid form. The structure is covered in waterproof fabric, an ideal covering for the Gorilla Hut to protect them from the weather, which is a stress trigger. Gorillas need to sleep at least twelve hours a day, so to ensure comfort and a good night's sleep The Gorilla Hut's floor is made out of fabric-covered foam. Overall, The Gorilla Hut is a safe tensile structure for gorillas to be able to recharge and get ready for another day full of danger.

Rocking Bench (Past NuVu Project)

Anna Kraft

This is a bench made using the idea of pet and human interaction. They are made so that your pet can be below you who you are laying on a bench, and if they run through it can rock.

I have three dogs and two cats. I tried to think of ways that i could accommodate a pet with me,  also using my love for interior design. Designing furniture is a passion of mine and I thought I should push myself to create something useful. After many days of brainstorming and help from coaches, I came up with the idea of this bench. Instead of having a lonely bench, and having your dog/cat or other pet on top of you, they can be below.

This helps people who have many animals and sometimes need space from them, or people who want useful furniture.

I used wood to create this and also the idea of lodging together. Since there are two benches, I wanted someone to be able to use this in different ways, so the idea of locking them in different positions together came to mind.
