Set the Scene - What is the world we are living in where you imagine your cyborg enhancement to be viable?

Noah's brief

1. A new form of transportation that harnesses air currents to enable rollerbladers to reach higher speeds. This piece of equipment uses air currents to accelerate.

2. The Rollerfan creates a new form of transportation and a competitive activity in which less athletic people are able to compete against more athletic people. Rather than requiring a lot of physical strength, the Rollerfan requires skill and understanding of how the sail's angle affects its wind power. The fan consists of a quarter circle of windproof sail.  Finally, a harness was attached to the sail and wooden planks and strings were added which, when pulled, shifted the direction of the sail. The Rollerfan challenges the idea that transportation requires fuel by using only the power of the wind to move. The Rollerfan offers a safer and better alternative for children to other forms of transportation because it does not reach dangerous speeds and will help keep neighborhoods quieter and more peaceful.


Uliana's brief

RollerFan is a wearable sail that allows the user to move faster on rollerblades.

It's hard to rollerblade fast when it is windy. RollerFan harnesses the wind from any direction to push the user forward. We created this project so that the user could go faster on rollerblades with less effort.  RollerFan is made out of two flat wooden beams, one is facing vertically and another is facing horizontally to make the skeleton of the sail. Sewed onto the beams is a quarter-circle piece of Tyvek to from a sail. The fabric that the sail is made out of is a plastic-like fabric that does not allow air through. This fabric allows the sail to be able to harness more wind. RollerFan helps rollerbladers move with more ease when there is wind. This project could even be adapted for skateboarders too.

This is also what family, friends, colleges, the media, and everyone outside of NuVu will see. It is the record of your work and must stand alone, telling a compelling story of your project.

Portfolio pages have 2-3 posts in this order:

  1. The Presentation Post: This post's privacy is set to Everyone. This post showcases your final design by telling the comprehensive story of how your idea was born, developed, and manifested. The arc of the story should encompass the, How of your project in a compelling narrative. It showcases your design process including your brainstorming, each of your iterations, and your final prototype. It allows the viewer to delve deeply into your process.
    • Every Slide should have a Title and Caption.
      The body of this post is The Brief. You should include a version of the Brief for each collaborator in the project.
    • This post will be used in your review presentation at the end of the session.
  2. Optional Video: This post's privacy is set to Everyone. A video showing the interactive functionality of your project. The title of this post will be Video.
  3. Presentation Script: This post's privacy is set to School. Each group will post their script for there presentation. This post will be used to prepare for and practice your presentation. This post should be titled "Presentation Script" and should not be made public. Alternatively,

1. The exoskeleton hand uses small claw-like spikes to dig deep into turf, allowing the user to pull themselves up towards the top of a wall. 


2. The Ascendo-skeleton recreates the technology that spiders and other insects use to climb. All the user needs to do is to slide their fingers into the wooden rings that hold the spikes and tighten them to the ideal fit. The rings use the technology of pipe clamps, allowing the user to tighten and loosen at will. Once they do this, they can begin climbing. The Ascendo-skeleton's technology can be adapted to create other exoskeletons that allow users to scale any surface, not just turf walls. The Ascendo-skeleton allows mountain climbers to scale grass and moss surfaces that they were never able to climb before. These moss terrains can be found in the Swiss Alps. Usually, hikers have to use the footpath to get around the moss walls, but now they will be able to scale them as they please.

Oliver Trejo's Brief:

Throughout history, people have yearned for speed. The Cheetah Shoes are designed to allow people to run faster. Its medium sized leaf springs allow the user to run more efficiently. The Cheetah Shoes are made up of layered foam and wood in the shape of a ‘J’, which allows for compression and energy return. Each spring attaches to laser cut holders into which the wearer inserts their lower legs and their feet to use the shoes. The leg chasse keeps the user's ankles from twisting and getting injured. In the past few years, more and more Paralympic runners have been able to compete in the Olympics thanks in part to their prosthetics. The most common of these prosthetics is fashioned in the shape of a leaf spring. However, these are too large and unwieldy to attach to a shoe for non-limb-different people. The original prosthetics are able to reduce energy loss by around 10%, making high speeds more easily attainable. The compression of the springs also works as a shock absorber, protecting the ankles and knees. The shoes can both improve the user’s attainable speeds and the user’s resilience to injury.

The design uses multiple laser cut pieces and hand cut pieces. Most of it can be replicated simply from the laser cut materials while the only truly hand-cut piece is the laminated foam. This forms the base of the cheetah blade. It provides the compression and the rebound which is the most important part of the spring as it gives the shoes their springy properties. The foam is caged by two pieces of thick plywood to keep everything centered. These wooden pieces also provide more strength so the shoes can take more use. Runners will use the Cheetah Shoes to sprint short distances, run long marathons, and improve their overall physical abilities. The Cheetah Shoes are tools that runners all over the world can use to perform better in their sport.


Zach Belizaire's Brief: 

Who hasn't wanted to run faster and improve there running performance like Olympian Usain Bolt or the superhero Flash in for comic books? , If so, these Cheetah shoes are designed for them. The shoes help to improve a person's running performance, giving them an advantage over other runners.  

.The design mechanisms inside the shoes are smaller, stronger compared to (Jumping Stilts). It’s secured and firmly strapped on the runner's calves and ankles. The shoes do not look bulky; they look sleek and stylish like an everyday sneaker. As they walk, energy, that is released as you walk or run forward. The faster you run, the more power and energy are released. Amputees who owned the cheetah legs said at the legs don't make them faster But the leg makes walking normal. with the cheetah running shoes But for Able-bodied person the added legs make them walk 2x faster.

The Cheetah shoes are made with high-quality parts at a cheaper cost, making it] affordable Than Jumping Stilts and accessible to anyone who desires to run faster. Overall [be more specific, perhaps: Most importantly], the Cheetah shoes feel comfortable and easy to walk and run with.  You'll feel like you've increased strength and endurance to keep them going.
