Heart on the Line Bracelets
Emma Thiebault & Sebah Beshir
Thesis
- The Heart on the Line bracelets are two bracelets that communicate through a bluetooth connection and flashing lights when the heart rate of someone battling through a health condition is dangerously high.
- Designed for people who aren’t hospitalized with 24/7 care and attention but would still benefit from having a trusted friend check in on their health and well being.
- Ensure that the “patient” in this situation can always have a trusted friend/caregiver who gets notified when their heart rate is dangerously high
- A vital part about the concept is ensuring that the two people wearing them share a relationship where they trust each other, and are comfortable being vulnerable with each other.

Which health conditions can this cater to?
- drug use
- extreme asthma
- panic/anxiety attacks
- high/low blood pressure
- electrolyte unbalance
- withdrawal
- high fever
- lack of blood circulation
- Average heart rate for human is 60-100bpm
- Heart rate increases unnaturally after overuse of drugs, extreme fear, etc
- Starting at 120bpm, someone with an underlying health condition should go to the hospital, but often times it goes unnoticed
- Blacking out/fainting often dramatically decreases heart rate
- Too high or too low of a heart rate can also be a warning sign for a lot of different problems, like organ failure, heart failure, other sickness, anxiety and panic attacks, etc.
