Innovation Camp for Educators_Summer 2015

Industrial Design Track

Saba Ghole

During the Innovation Camp, participants will engage in a 3-day Mini-Studio experience (a shorter version of NuVu’s typical 2-week Studio Module) and will go through the design process of brainstorming, developing, and building a project. With the support of NuVu Coaches (visiting innovators and experts in their field), participants will advance their ideas through a critical, iterative design process.

The Industrial Design Mini-Studio Track will focus on a topic that involves a challenging real-world design and engineering problem. Sample projects are provided below that showcase the type of work that will be done in this Mini-Studio.

We created a system that allows the user of a wheel chair to go faster. Instead of moving in the wheel chair by pushing the wheels, our mechanism allows the user to use a rowing motion that allows the person to go faster and exercise different muscles. We used the free wheel mechanism and made different attachments to the free wheel that would enable it to snap onto the wheel easily and be ready to use.
