Flight Patterns

Organic flight is the pinacle of flight technology, specifically that of insects. The wings not only move in an incredible figure eight, the shape of the wing also changes from concave to convex, allowing for the insect to create lift with both directions of movement.

Fall 2012 - studio 3/4

The goal of this studio was to make a plane.

The wings were made using some CAD software thingy and tested in a replica wind tunnel. Max' design had the most lift and so was used.

The frame was kind of heavy, so we had huge wings. Motors moved rods, which moved airlons and the tail. One final motor had a special effect: Dropping "bombs" from a compartment attached to the plane. These were tiny poppy things.
