Nurturing Nature explores balancing routine with flexibility through furniture. Modular furniture presents a choice to users between frequent reconfiguration or keeping a piece static. This project will physically represent this choice through a custom piece of furniture, encouraging users to reflect on their relationship with modularity.

MAKING SENSE

OF DESIGN - Backpfeifengesicht

Lloyd Graves

The Backpfeifengesicht was a project Bean Armstrong and I worked on during our making sense of design studio. The goal of this studio was the understand the fundamental principles of design by applying them to our own projects.

Both Bean and I got two randomized sentences as a prompt to base our projects on. We were paired together as we both had similar prompts and worked well together.

Our final project for the studio, dubbed the Backpfeifengesicht (german) was a pillow that screams when you press it. Our intention was to teach little kids empathy through the fact that everyone feels pain.

Gravity Shift

Project Description:

Gravity Shift is a first person puzzle game designed to have absolutely no conventional weapons, built in the unity engine. The player must use environmental hazards, like electricity and water, to eliminate their enemies, who are robots. The game is designed around a grappling hook mechanic, which allows you to grapple objects with other moveable objects and parts of the environment. We used this mechanic to make the player interact with the environment, as their only method of defeating foes is to use environmental hazards.
