What is AI is a project where I set out to learn more about the "Black Box" of AI and get a better idea of how AI really goes from input to output. This projected started with me doing research into how AI worked so that I could get a base level understanding. After that I moved into trying to train an AI to be able to fix python code. I did this since I felt like if I could learn how to make a base level AI that would help me learn more about how AI really works. In the end this projected ended with an AI trained to be able to fix small python errors like syntax errors and I also got a much better understanding of the AI black box.

Eco-Sort

By Margo and Lloyd

Spray paint 0.81

Jar 0.53

Phone 0.37

Problem:

Improper waste management due to:

  • Recycling & Poster Fatigue
  • Wrong knowledge about recycling
  • Lack of time for research

Solution:

  • Eco-Sort, a device that helps users in public spaces (for this project, NuVu) correctly dispose of waste
  • It identifies items using AI and indicates the appropriate disposal bin
  • Eco-Sort is more noticeable then a poster
  • Makes recycling easier

Jade:

Our Tomorrow is a poignant stop-motion animation depicting a utopian world that rapidly transforms into a dystopian ruin. The animation serves to shatter traditional notions of a bright future, challenging viewers to consider the consequences of their current decisions in order to shape a better tomorrow.

The stop-motion animation set is crafted from cut sections of polystyrene and painted in acrylic. The modular sections of the city are then mounted with foam pads to a studio made from laser cut cardboard that acts as a light shroud and backdrop. The animation features repurposed LED bulbs as characters, each standing at just five millimeters tall. A pair of needle nose pliers was used to manipulate the characters.

Through its vibrant visuals and powerful messaging, the animation is a warning to the current generation that our present actions have significant implications for future generations. Our Tomorrow encourages the viewer to be vigilant stewards of the environment and to strive for a society marked by harmony and unity so that all may enjoy the innovative gifts of a thriving future.

Echoes of Memory

Siena Jekel

This project is a 3D-animated short film about trauma and conflict and how memories can stay with us throughout our lives. I made this film for my parents, who grew up in a conflict zone and experienced similar events. Following the main character's development from early childhood to adulthood, the film tackles how memories and past events inform our present lives.
