Many teachers struggle to develop intentional management systems and instruction strategies; many fall back on systems and strategies from their own past even if those strategies didn’t work particularly well.

THE CHALLENGE

Assemble the flat-pack furniture patterns to create scale-models of table and chairs without any tape, glue, nails or screws. Everyone should assemble at least one piece of furniture in the next five minutes.

Bring your scale models in the photo booth to learn and practice how to photograph models.

FLAT PACK FURNITURE

Since the use of flat pack furniture, prices of furniture have reached all-time lows in the industry. This method also allows more stocks to be stored in every store. Ease of transport is another benefit, conveniently moving products not only by the consumer but in bulk in between stores.

IKEA has used the methods of flat pack furniture and mass production to dominate the furniture industry by making it easier and cheaper to buy their furniture than any competitor.

Our ability to purchase well designed furniture is becoming easier and easier.

Our ability to make a living by crafting well design furniture is becoming more difficult.

Possible Format for Teacher's Guide

20-30 minutes to allow students to utilize the simple circuit tutorial to embed an LED switch circuit into their second prototype. 

Full studio step-by-step tutorial on how to create a circuit that includes a battery, a switch and an LED. Once every student has completed the circuit, introduce the concept of parallel and series circuits and let students choose which one to test. 

Call and response group discussion to define the fundamental principles of electricity and circuits using the following leading questions.

 -What is the difference between a conductor/insulator? 

 -Why do batteries eventually die? 

 - Why is a resistor needed in a 1.5v circuit with an LED? 

A consistent slide design that signifies the initiation of a studio experience. What is that studio experience going to accomplish? (creative confidence / critical thinking / innovation)
