Lonely

Lonely

Lonely is a 2d platforming video game that creates a player experience grounded in themes of grief, social isolation and anxiety. According to the CDC: Data and Statistics on Children’s Mental Health, approximately 5.8 million children suffer from symptoms linked to social isolation and anxiety. Lonely creates a gameplay experience that helps the player build a deeper empathy for those that experience anxiety and social isolation.

In Lonely, the player dives into the child's mind which has become a twisted maze under the weight of such heavy grief. The player then navigates through distinct areas each representing different aspects of the child's grief. In those areas, the player will have to concur platforming challenges, puzzles, and monsters each of which has been manifested from struggles of intense grief.

Brief 1:

The video game Lonely explores feelings of loneliness and despair that come from experiencing a great loss in a 2d platformer format. As the player goes through different levels, they fight their inner monsters in a battle to find something or someone to be friends with. Lonely addresses loneliness in children who have recently lost a loved one and how someone experiencing these feelings would interact with the world and experience it.

The story of the game is reminiscent of “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” by C. S. Lewis a book where children go into a different world to escape World War two. This is just one example of children using fantasy worlds to develop skills to deal with real world problems.

As cities grow around the world, green space is increasingly hard to come by. Wildlife interactions have been shown to increase happiness especially in urban situations, meaning that green space is an essential part of a healthy urban environment.

Green Inequity is a problem that strikes many cities around the world. Cambridge, MA is a standout example of how green interaction affects happiness levels. As Cambridge continues to develop outward, it is important to preserve and augment natural pathways for wildlife to navigate their environment. Green Inequity is an architecture project that reimagines what it means to be a bridge. Instead of being simply a path from point A to point B, the bridge is a park in and of itself. The crossing is located along Fresh Pond Pkwy, a busy four lane street. The crossing connects Fresh Pond to the Tobin Elementary School and its surrounding neighborhood with the goal of providing safe passage to wildlife, students, and commuters alike. Taking cues from land crossing on rural interstates, the path is formed by a suspended continuation of the natural landscape already at the site.  Three pedestrian paths, two paved and one unpaved, direct the traffic flow along the crossing. The paths are bordered on both sides by rich green life, comprised of species which thrive in urban environments. Animals move primarily within this green area, with ample canopy to shield them from predators.

The Eco Dollhouse

Eco Dollhouse

The Eco Dollhouse is a dollhouse that has been modeled after real-world sustainable homes and would hypothetically be located in Boston. The garden is the center of the house surrounded by glass walls filled with greenery. The opening of the dollhouse is intentional. Using magnets, the front porch and back corner of the house detach, making the garden modular and accessible. The goal of this toy is to retain what makes the dollhouse so iconic while incorporating education about the environment. It’s crucial for children to learn sustainable alternatives as the world moves further and further into climate disarray.

This toy is for children ages eight to ten years. Kids can handle serious subjects, such as homelessness or climate change. But it’s important how these subjects are taught. Imagine if a medium could teach children about sustainability in a useful way, instilling values of empathy and encouraging the child to conserve rainwater for the home’s plants, or start labeling items in their fridge that are close to expiring with stickers that say “Eat me first!” There is an implemented AR component where the user can scan objects in the home and read about why they are sustainable. This will foster an understanding of why bamboo cabinets are better for the environment than hardwood, with testimonies from local animals saying how the children helped their communities. It has long been said that children are the future, and why not implore them to use this power to help fight for the safety of the environment?

New

Generations

BLING, or  Bringing Light Into New Generations, is a collection of grills that draws from the extensive history of dental augmentation to explore self-expression and self-acceptance within the "internet generation".

From ancient civilizations like the Etruscans, the Romans, and the Mayans to 1980's hip hop culture and street fashion today, tooth ornamentation has signified wealth and cultural affiliation. In this project, each piece uses significant characteristics of our current culture to help the wearer embrace their whole self. This collection is inspired by the “maximalist” trend throughout gen z as well as overstimulation as an overall feeling or state of being.

The grills are vacuum-formed a hard dental plastic to the shape of my teeth creating an “Invisalign” type retainer. they were then decorated with resin-molded shapes, gems, and wire. The purpose of this project is to highlight or change insecurities to bring a story and meaning to a person's smile. With different beauty standards across the world, it is hard to feel confident and happy all the time. Bling helps bring you something to look forward to in your smile.

Diversity in the NFL

Diversity in the NFL is a short documentary bringing awareness to the racial bias and discrimination during hiring for coaches and management positions in the NFL. This short video project uses lots of research and a combination of animation and film clips.

While creating this film, research was done on Rules that have been made to create more diversity, to collect information on how the NFL has tried to combat racism and encourage diversE hiring. The film talks about rules put in place like the Rooney Rule and the reasons why this rule didn't work. This video i directed towards social media and the people that have the abilliy to change these rules, because its on social media it allows for the video to reach more people.
