Thesis Statement

Upper Management is an interactive, horror visual novel starring Tim, A mild-mannered office worker who has an epiphany that he is throwing away his life to something that will amount to nothing. This prompts him to impulsively quit. After quitting Tim goes into the office to collect his stuff, there Tim finds strange happenings. We want this story to be a message to the player that their time on earth is both fleeting and precious, and that finding something to amount to is integral to having a fulfilling and happy life.

In this studio students utilized several digital tools to assist with interactive storytelling and writing techniques. Each activity introduced a new digital tool paired with a specific written prompt. Students wrote and shared stories each day, while also creating images, maps, and objects to aid in the communication of their tales. Then students looked at digital fiction tools - text generators, visual novels, non-linear narratives and interactive fiction.

The goal of the map is to show the climates on certain areas of the world. I was hoping that I could use this with the weather API to make the weather, have an impact on the story.

In this futuristic world, I needed to create a way to travel several thousands of miles quickly, and introduced a high-speed train to carry you around represented in the greens.

Bharatanatyam is an old Indian classical dance.(Bha - Bhaav - Expression, Ra - Raag - Music, Ta - Taal - Rhythm, Natyam - Dance/Play).

3 sub-divisions - Technical, Storytelling, Technical + Storytelling (my device will focus primarily on the storytelling part).

With the advent of short form dance videos on apps like - Tiktok and Instagram. People have lost interest in Indian classical dance forms.

Many are quick to dismiss these dances as boring but it's often because we can't feel and understand the intricate stories.

Connection is a wearable prosthetic that helps Bharatanatyam dancers connect with their audience while also adding an exciting new layer to the dance. The audience wearable makes use of Peltier tiles to translate emotions/stories onto a temperature spectrum to make the audience feel the story rather than simply telling them story.

Thesis Statement

Abrasion Holography is a technique that creates pseudo-3d images using the anisotropic properties of curved grooves in a reflective material. We modified a 3d printer to create these images by attaching an engraving tool to the printing head, and wrote software to create groove patterns from stl 3d models.

This project is a continuation of the first concentration this year where we started with choreographing a dance based off of colonization and then moved to creating different wearables during second studio to increase the viewers emathy for the colonized people.

Thesis Statement

Hidden Flora is an interactive installation that can change and develop throughout a performance. Triggered by movement, the different pieces expand and contract in size with its geometric patterns and design. When taking a closer look when the flower-like design opens, when approaching the installation, a geometric pattern is revealed signifying the culture being revealed and hidden during certain times.

As the audience moves closer to the installation, the piece folds in on itself and affects the emotions of the viewers.

• The pathway shows three different stages of colonization
• Each stage/ "loop" has a different installation that has different visuals and mechanical designs

Resonance: a three-part wearable collection which creates an intimate musical experience between audience members and musicians. Using vibration nodes connected to an Arduino Uno, the garment sends vibrations correlating with the music to the wearer, immersing their body in both the physical and visual sensations of the music.

Ghost Stories is a set of short "horror" stories that I used to learn about HTML, CSS, and Javascript. First I created a simple website design and then I worked with procreate to draw the stories. I started with a simple set of drawings so I could spend more time on interactivity on the web. With the visuals complete, I worked to created a set of reactive javascript interactions to create a more involved and eye-catching experience.

Project Statement

Expedition is a game about tension. Every single part of Expedition is designed to be as tense as possible, from placing down board pieces to obtaining chess pieces. The game incorporates elements from classic roguelikes, age-old drawing games like tic tac toe and dots & boxes, and chess. Expedition is just random enough to have exciting new strategy every match without being unfair.

• Sideboards were almost never touched throughout the game

• Implemented an upper platform system
