Active Learning
Key Trends for the Future of Education
“Deep learning is hard work. The effort involved in active learning can be misinterpreted as a sign of poor learning. On the other hand, a superstar lecturer can explain things in such a way as to make students feel like they are learning more than they actually are.”
Diana El-Azar for the World Economic Forum February 7, 2022

Skills for a Changing World
What we need to teach are skills that remain relevant in new, changing, and unknown contexts
These are skills that cross the boundaries of disciplines, applying equally to scientific researchers or lawyers.

In Fall 2019, NuVu students began designing Pipedreams, an art-play sculpture that celebrates the industrial legacy of Danehy Park in Cambridge, MA. After two years, and three studios of planning and designing work, the installation was completed. The Cambridge Arts Council hosted a formal opening in November 2021.

In the Interdisciplinary Studios Model, all teachers plan together an interdisciplinary project. This project forms a single, cohesive project pursuit for students to experience. The singular project is explored in multiple subject-area studios led by credentialed teachers. All of the unique artifacts of learning come together to form a project narrative presentation at the end of each studio.
