Selfie in Context Sketch

Selfie Sketch

India Hyde

For my selfie sketch I choose for the background to be my desk. I choose this background because it has a lot of different items in it. Having a variety of items made it interesting to draw. The background included a bag from Ann Taylor, some highlighters, and some parrot decorations. I focused on adding detail to the sleeve to make the drawing more interesting. Overall I wanted my sketch to have detail.

Apple Drawing

India Hyde

Today we learned about conveying ideas in graphic language or by drawing. In our drawings we were asked to draw a apple. We were to draw the apple from many different perspectives, such as top view, botton view, cross section, and plan section. We drew these apples in a 1 to 1 scale and used line thickness to convey different aspects of the drawing. Some things line thickness could convey are if the line represents the outline or if you are drawing a section. Overall the apple drawing exercise was spent trying to get us used to using drawing or graphic language to convey our ideas.

Apple Sketch

We used orthographic projections and sectioning to describe and draw an apple to size. We first drew an apple from different views, a side view, a top view and a bottom view. We then cut the apple vertically and horionzatlly and drew two plan sections and two cross sections. We measured the size of the apple and the different pieces, both height and width, so we could draw the apple to size.

Apple Drawings

On one sheet we drew the orthographics of an apple by drawing a 1 to 1 side elevation, top elevation, and bottom elevation. On another sheet we drew 1 to 1 orthographic drawings of 2 cross sections of the apple and 2 plan sections. We measured the apple by using a ruler on the apple vertically and horozonatlly and transferring those measurements onto paper. Using these measurements we did the best we could to draw the apple. After doing the outside elevations we sliced into it to get the sections. We sliced parallel to the table to get plan sections and perpandicular to the table to get cross sections
