Hanging City

Saba Ghole

Orignally my city was going to be a stacked city but it soon morphed into a hanging city where the richer people live closer to the bottom due to the fact that thier houses are heavier but this was also a punishment for the land below is polluted. I started my project with sketches and soon I prototyped my city center out of cardboard before proceeding to make it out of wood. Assesing what I did wrong I then rebuilt my final version of it along with building the houses, gears, and city frame. Finally I assembled it all in a way that the gears make the houses go up and down.

Futuristic Worlds

Saba Ghole and Andrew Todd Marcus

From Star Wars to The Hunger Games to Captain America to Star Trek, sci-fi worlds filled with technology and magic invite people on a whirlwind journey across space and time. Even contemporary stages for theater productions and performances, such as Cirque du Soleil, use sci-fi robotic machines as part of their set design to create illusion and magic.

In this studio, students will design, model, and build sci-fi worlds of their own imagination. Students will use digital 3d modeling software such as Rhino and Maya to create magical cities and architecture or design the sets of a theater or music performance. The students’ physical designs can be augmented with sensors, programmable LED lights, and moving elements using microcontrollers powered by Arduino to bring the stage to life!
