PRE-STUDIO ACTIVITY: P.P. identit(E)

Nadine Zaza

Have you ever thought about the message your clothes send and what it says about you? What story are you telling with your style today?

We are what we wear after all...

We're in the midst of a pandemic... still and by the looks of it, it won't be any time soon until we can bare our faces to the world! So for now let's embrace the Personal Protective Equipment or PPE and express ourselves the same way we would with other items of clothing!

Follow the video tutorial to create your own P.P.E   I mean P.P.Identit(E)

You will have Studio Time to start your mask and we will PRESENT OURSELVES/ OUR WORK to each other tomorrow morning as a way to get to know each other a bit more!
Upload images of your mask pre and post-identity! in the response tab of this assignment

Setting up your Workplace :

  • DESK: If possible clear a desk or table in your home you may keep all your items in the box and lay them out during studio time
  • LAPTOP: make sure you have zoom downloaded and sign into the Studio White Zoom ID that will be posted when you start the Studio
  • MATERIALS: You will have canvas, muslin, and nylon in your kit if you choose to upcycle and use materials in your home make sure to have them ready before studio time. For the first activity, we will be deconstructing a constructed garment piece like trousers or a button-down blouse/ shirt try to have that ready for day 1. (it can be an older shirt you would have donated!)
  • PHOTOBOOTH STATION: try to set up an area in your home or even outside with direct sunlight for taking photos and then uploading them onto the platform. Ideally, you could drape a white bed sheet onto your desk or hang it as a backdrop & make sure to leave white space with your piece in the center.
