Portfolio Day Session 2

Jenny Kinard

Portfolio Day

After the Final Presentation, you have the opportunity to consider your presentation in light of final feedback and discussion. You will spend additional time reviewing you presentations, refining you portfolio, and polishing you work before it is made public on the internet.

The Self Evaluation is an opportunity for you to reflect on your work during the Studio. Students and Coaches receive the same prompts and categories, and the students will evaluate their own progress and skill levels in Design Skills and Subject Skills applicable to the studio both numerically and textually. Through a narrative, you will also reflect on the quality and rigor of your work, give feedback on the studio, and have the opportunity to receive similar feedback directly from the coach.

Final wrap up- work stops after lunch!

Follow the Presentation Requirements and post to 'Portfolio' tab. Additional guidelines for your presentations:

  1. Everyone should start with the thesis statement- this should be written out and checked off by both coaches.
  2. Revisit your preliminary research and back it up with concrete facts. Be prepared to answer any questions regarding your topic. Give the audience atleast 2-3 new facts or details that they can take away from your research.
  3. Evocative image - should reference back to marine ecology and early explorations from the studio (technosphere, anthropocene, interdependent ecosystems, etc.)
  4. If using electronics, create a digram with Fritzing & upload your final code in a separate post.
  5. Use high quality images. Photoshop images that need editing. When creating custom slides, keep it minimal and clean and use illustrator if possible. Use the attached template.
  6. Try to tie the whole presentation into a unique, insightful narrative.

Please make sure to rehearse the presentation with each other and delegate the slides each person will cover. Great work everyone :)
