We designed an easily accessible pair of glasses attached to the ear. Inspired by how different animals see the world from a wide range of different kinds of colors, our wearable allows users to view the world through different perspectives with various lenses. Not only does this add interest to your day-to-day experiences, but it also serves as a reminder that there is not just one way of seeing and interpreting the world.

Hobby Buddy is a gauntlet designed to assist you in a range of different creative activities. With the modular magnetic design and biomimicry to create these tools to assist, you can customize your Hobby Buddy to any specific hobbies or activities. There are many species on our planet to use as precedents to augment the human body. From porcupines to octopi, Hobby Buddy is attempting to mimic those design mother nature created.

HeartSync is a fashion tech piece that tracks the wearer’s heartbeat, visually representing it in real-time through a futuristic heart design connected to the body by a vessel-like structure.

This piece aims to heighten the viewer's awareness of the heart’s presence and significance, its literal design emphasizing that while technology can enhance bodily functions and improve health outcomes, its primary role is to support and protect our core systems—an aspect we often overlook.

The design features a mirrored geometric covering that mimics the biological shape and structure of the heart, complemented by wires resembling blood vessels that connect to the heart.

We decided we'd make the final out of a reflective surface to encourage self-reflection, prompting viewers to consider their perceptions of technology and their vital systems, reinforcing that our bodies are not just subjects of technology but are at the very heart of its purpose.

This project was about making a piece of clothing that fooled your eyes, or that just looked really cool and weird. The wearable will spark confusion and curiosity.

How this relates to human augmentation

This project was meant to highlight how the human eyes can be fooled. It is meant enhance the human body and make the body itself into an optical illusion.

I wanted the final product to be made out of mirrored and clear acrylic, and to use infinity mirrors to fool the eyes. I wanted it to evoke confusion and curiosity in the people who saw it, and make them do a double-take.

Thesis

We aim to create a wearable piece that offers protection and personal space for the user. The spikes on the sides are movable—providing safety and keeping other people away when pointed outward, while appearing more welcoming when pointing inward. This idea came from our desire to show instead of tell how some people want to have their own space, but also how that same person can want to have people around.

This was our first Hi-Fi prototype for the flaps. The design idea came from our desire to incorporate spikes that looked more like the initial project along with more realistic feathers. This was designed on Rhino and laser cut onto plywood.

This was our second Hi-Fi prototype for the flaps. The design is very similar in concept to the last one, only this time the spikes are more rigid, the feathers are bigger, the material is less heavy, and the bottom tapers off to better fit with the motor.

This was our third Hi-Fi prototype for the flaps. The design was the same as the feathers in the last two prototypes but this time we were trying out having clusters of feathers without the spikes and experimenting with different kinds of movement using hinges and string.

Final Product

With vast amounts of information available about places very far away, we can know about events all over the world, but we lack the intimate, physical knowledge about what it's like to actually be in a place other than where we are right now. Flutter gives you a deeper sense of connection to far away places by simulating what it would be like if your garments were fluttering in the small gusts in another place.

Flutter is a set of high fashion ear cuffs which actuate based on the wind speed in a specific location, allowing you to feel all of the small gusts even when you're far away.
