The Open Pump Project

By Jade Vincent

The Open Pump Project aims to develop a completely open source "build it yourself" insulin pump. By providing open source hardware to treat type one diabetes, consumers gain the right to understand their artificial organs, along with the freedom to improve them. This project will place emphasis on technology like 3d printing, and easily accessible components from companies like Adafruit. By using accessible and cheap materials this project will be accessible to as many people as possible while still costing a reasonable price to build (under $200).

My Macro Coach

Your personal coach

My Macro Coach is the first open-source nutrition tracker with a focus on prevention and recovery from disordered eating. This project uses a no numbers no consequences approach to tracking, backed by a real dietitian for real people. While My Macro Coach doesn't share information with users, it does share it with healthcare providers, giving them the best knowledge of you they can have.

As the field of prosthetics evolves, it not only offers solutions for replacing lost limbs but also opens new avenues for augmenting human capabilities beyond their natural boundaries. The 'Third Thumb' project epitomizes this shift, representing a convergence of robotics, and design to enhance the human body's functionality. 'Third Thumb' aims to redefine human potential by enabling users to perform complex tasks with unprecedented ease and efficiency, thus challenging traditional perceptions of disability and augmentation. By focusing on the integration of this technology with the human sensory-motor system, the Third Thumb project not only demonstrates the tangible benefits of advanced prosthetics in improving everyday life but also explores the future possibilities of human-machine symbiosis.
