Sam:

Healing! vs. Growth? is a project aiming to inform the NuVu community about restorative justice. We talked to some members of the NuVu community, as well as running surveys, and learned that just around half know about NuVu's restorative justice system. Additionally, most people haven't actually read the NuVu student handbook, including me before this project. Our goal for this project was to teach NuVu students, and to a lesser extent coaches, about the NuVu restorative justice system and how to use it effectively. The workshop involved us giving a presentation about restorative justice, both in NuVu and outside it, and then splitting people into eight groups. Six were student groups, and two were staff groups. Each group spent ten minutes planning a skit in which someone caused harm, and a restorative justice circle happening to fix the harm done. We collected feedback from students afterward, and most said it was a fun or informative experience, and that they know more about restorative justice than they did before. We also made a shortened version of the student handbook, so that it is easier to read, and QR codes to the original student handbook and our shortened version. We lasercut those QR codes and made that into keychains, but we weren't able to make enough quickly enough to hand them out at the final presentation.

Immigration Dialogue

By: Z, Bryson, and Lloyd

Immigration dialogue is a group of people who have experienced the horrors of the American detention centers and tracking devices that we subject them to. They work together to communicate their stories. We are working with audio the group has shared with us. They want their story to be shared through social media. We are helping them organize and put visuals on the audio they are providing

Echoes of Memory

Siena Jekel

This project is a 3D-animated short film about trauma and conflict and how memories can stay with us throughout our lives. I made this film for my parents, who grew up in a conflict zone and experienced similar events. Following the main character's development from early childhood to adulthood, the film tackles how memories and past events inform our present lives.
