Our Four
Pillars
NuVu is proud to be different from traditional schools; the modern world requires a bold new approach to education.
Innovation
Our curriculum is composed of three main elements: Studios, Seminars and Supplemental Coursework
Curriculum
At the heart of NuVu’s curriculum are studios, a series of immersive, interdisciplinary, three- to four-week projects
Studios
Seminars meet once per week and last for an entire trimester. They cover topics that students have expressed interest in learning more about. Through reading, writing and discussion, seminars allow NuVu students to explore topics that extend and inform each year’s studios.
We integrate supplemental coursework into the overall academic program. Two blocks per week are devoted to this work, allowing our students to take accredited academic courses through specialized online providers and with support from NuVu’s coaches.
Seminars
Supplemental Work
Our schedule provides focused blocks of time for students to work on their studio projects and also includes specific blocks for seminars and supplemental coursework.
NuVu Academic Year Schedule
Nufolio is a visual learning platform that brings student work to the forefront, where ideas, prototypes, feedback, and presentations can all exist in a single location. Nufolio allows students and teachers to collaborate inside and outside the studio through a shared workspace, supporting iterative design and a culture of innovation.
Platform
A VR studio that offers students the opportunity to leverage advanced creation and storytelling techniques to build explorable worlds.
Compiled Germination
Exploring and testing the integration of cutting-edge research in autonomous technology into existing vehicular design.
Autonomous Golf Cart
In a world that often encourages us to focus on ourselves, NuVu believes that transformative change is only possible when we also reach outward.
Empathy
A wheelchair attachment that could make lever-powered wheelchairs more accessible to everyday users
Hand Drive
Using fashion as a tool for social justice and celebrating the beauty of difference
Juxtapose
Our focus on design ensures that students are active participants in the learning process.
Design
While the design process can be messy, our students consistently find that it gives them creative freedom

In the Interdisciplinary Studios Model, all teachers plan together an interdisciplinary project. This project forms a single, cohesive project pursuit for students to experience. The singular project is explored in multiple subject-area studios led by credentialed teachers. All of the unique artifacts of learning come together to form a project narrative presentation at the end of each studio.

In the Design Labs Model, each credentialed teacher creates their own project-based studio experience using the Design Lab framework in guided PD sessions. A design lab is a topic-focused learning experience that engages students with the real world in a meaningful way. Students experience a variety of Design Labs across multiple years exposing them to a diversity of skills, knowledge, and competencies.
