Winter term will be offered in-person
Students arriving by MBTA should exit at Central Sq. and walk two blocks east towards MIT. Dismissal is at 2:50 PM each day. The best pick-up area is on the corner of Mass Ave & Brookline St.
COVID Safety Protocols
Negative COVID test and proof of vaccination prior to arrival
Rotational student COVID testing schedule
Students and staff must wear face masks indoors
Maintain as much physical distance as possible
NuVu’s goal is to continue providing safe, uninterrupted in-person instruction by adhering to these safety protocols alongside routine sanitization and additional air filtration. We are confident these measures will enable onsite success. Additionally, NuVu is eager to adjust its policies in response to changes in the COVID landscape. You can find our plan to pivot to remote learning In the event of COVID-19 exposure on the Parent Noticeboard.
Studio Supplies & Expectations
Each student will need the following items for studio each day
An unlined sketchbook
and writing utensils (pencils or pens)
A laptop with administrator access
Absences/Tardiness
Each NuVu student must have a laptop and an email address to complete project work over the course of their studios and to communicate with their coaches and peers. Most laptops purchased within the last two to five years will work. For more detailed information on what we recommend, please see the attached Hardware & Software Requirements document.
If a student will be absent, late, or dismissed early from NuVu on any day, parents must email attendance@nuvustudio.org as soon as they are able, so that we may inform the student’s coaches and team members. Due to the collaborative effort of students’ work, it is imperative that we are notified of student absences with as much prior notice as possible.
Our curriculum is composed of three main elements: Studios, Seminars and Supplemental Coursework
Curriculum
At the heart of NuVu’s curriculum are studios, a series of immersive, interdisciplinary, three- to four-week projects
Studios
Seminars meet once per week and last for an entire trimester. They cover topics that students have expressed interest in learning more about. Through reading, writing and discussion, seminars allow NuVu students to explore topics that extend and inform each year’s studios.
We integrate supplemental coursework into the overall academic program. Two blocks per week are devoted to this work, allowing our students to take accredited academic courses through specialized online providers and with support from NuVu’s coaches.
Seminars
Supplemental Work
Our schedule provides focused blocks of time for students to work on their studio projects and also includes specific blocks for seminars and supplemental coursework.
