For this project, we were told to redesign classic household games and base them on a new relationship. The game that we choose to reconceptualize is Spoons: the card game. The relationship that we based the game on was working relationships since we have both been in a working environment before. We remade the cards to have images that represented different working positions, rewrote the rules and level-up system so it reflected someone rising or falling down the corporate ladder, and renamed the game to make sense of the new theme.

Final Review

10.8.21

War over Wealthworld is a game that criticizes oppressive governments, hostile architecture, corruption, and our current economic system. Our goal was to create a game that seems like a lighthearted board game that allows you to get lost in the game and realize mid-way through that the themes in the game can be connected to the current, real-life situation. The purpose of the project is to get people to realize just how intentionally hostile the world is built to be- the government currency is in the quintillions, the money is used for the sole purpose of making the lives of the people living in their city as hard as possible, and it only loops back around into more money.

This is a game that we created to be a version the game of life that is targeted more towards kids game nights and sleepovers. Unlike life this game has room for personalization and customization within the cards themselves. Similar to life the object is to make your way across the board while navigating obstacles that may come up.

Babel is a two-player game where you take turns placing pieces on the base. The goal is to build as tall of a tower as possible. Bable was made to represent the relationship "communicating with others who don't speak the same language". The tower is a metaphor, where the taller the tower means the greater level of communication achieved.

Zig is a 2 to 4 player game abstracting sibling rivalry. It is based around using your cards to advance your piece further along the board and/or push your opponents back. Players will have to use their skills and luck to reach the end space first.
