It is the last week of the trimester. We have our big final exhibition today. We are all so excited to have everyone back on-site to enjoy all the work our students have created. Students have been working extra hard the past few days with some kids staying late to finish a project and others coming early. We can not wait for them to have the opportunity to present all their wonderful deisgns.

We are finishing up the first week of Open Innovation and students are deep diving into their projects. We have seen great concepts developed as well as old ideas expanding. All the students are showing great enthusiasm in working on their own ideas. We can not wait to see the final outcome on November 18. Check out some of the students above in action with their projects.

Week of 9/10

Juliette Noone

We had two great field trips this week! The play and learning studio took a trip to Wildflower Monterssori School to get a sense of what makes the children like the toys they play with. The Soles for Souls studio went to the New Balance Factory in Lawrence and got to take a tour of the space. Both field trips were huge successes!

Week of 9/26

Juliette Noone

This is the last week of studios and students are gearing up to present Friday, September 30, 2022. We had the Play and Learning Studio revisit Lexington Montessori School and bring their toys for feedback. The children played with the toys our students created and had a blast. They provided lots of positive feedback and helped come up with ways to make the toys better. We will have updates for you next week about students' presentations from this week and the start of their new studios for session 2!

Week of 9/19

Juliette Noone

Students are nearing the end of session 1 and we have seen so much progress since the first day. In the Play and Learning studio this week the students had an opportunity to go to Lexington Montessori School to observe the children play with certain toys. They were able to gather information on what makes some toys more enticing than others. Students in the Making Sense of Design studios have been hard at work. Today they were representing their 2D abstraction of their memory into a 3D representation. Check out the students in action above.

Foam Competition

Juliette Noone

We are having a great second week in studios. In our Play and Learning studio, students were tasked with making a perfect foam shape with specific requirements. Students thought this would be an easy task but quickly realized a lot goes into creating these perfect structures. This was a great lesson for students to pay great attention to detail within their work.

First Week of School

Juliette Noone

Today is the first day of studios and students are already hard at work. We are excited about the studios and curriculum this year and look forward to a great trimester ahead.

Orientation wrapped up yesterday and we loved getting to see all our new and returning students. Students were able to participate in fun activities as well as do a design challenge. The design challenge involved creating something that could help users with different needs efficiently cook with eggs. Students successfully worked together and made working prototypes in just an hour and a half. Check out some of our students engaged in the challenge above.
