NewVu aims to generate unique learning environments and predict the possible student capacity of each space. We utilized statistics from the student body such as preferred rooms, square footage, wall type, and student density, and compiled them into a generative algorithm. This algorithm genorates rooms by placing floor and wall tiles according to the hallway location and other parameters.

For our project we are looking at how we can generate different versions of the Nuvu space and what we can change to make it "better," or what it would have to look like if we were to triple our student count.

We will gather data from the student body about the current Nuvu space, as well as look at the design philosophy behind other schools buildings.

Rosan Bosch has designed several very unique schools and we are planning on taking inspiration from her layouts

We made a survey that we sent out to the students asking their opinions on the different spaces at Nuvu and what they would change about them.

Progress So Far

We have developed a rudimentary room planning script that sections out portions of an image using square footage data. We are planning to use a similar marching squares algorithm to register rooms as separate objects and add windows, doors, tables, etc.
