Vortex Force Manipulation

Brief

Rajveer Parekh and Isa Murray

This project contains 2 sub-sections under the study of vortex force manipulation

One studies weather patterns forming to create a tornado as well as the forces that the tornado exerts on objects around it.

The second investigates whirlpool formations, including their origins and evolution over time.

We started this research together, but because we were in different geographical locations, we opted to look into two different aspects of the same topic: vortex force manipulation.

One of us decided to work on tornadoes, while the other focused on whirlpools.

"When I was working on creating whirlpools, I wanted to add waves to make the experience more realistic for the viewer, but when I did, the waves kept interfering with the main whirlpool. Ultimately I wasn't able to overcome this issue in time, but it taught me a lot about Houdini and using tanks in Houdini as I experimented with different nodes and tanks" - Rajveer

There were other other difficulties in getting both projects to render and come together, but thankfully we both were able to make something we were proud of.
