Collapsed Circuits is a speculative design project, done by Jeremy Nierenberg and Evan Johnston. The focus of the project was developing a futuristic world, and representing it through rendered images. The world that the designers developed is one where the modern supply chain has collapsed, and people are forced to use older technology, because it is more reliable, more durable, and easier to repair. Additionally, there has been a collapse of many large scale organisations, which generally caused a societal restructuring. One new lifestyle that formed is that of people whose primary job is finding and transporting technology. The small group of people the designers focused on are the transporters and salvagers for a collective of people whose goal is to develop new technologies. To create the images portraying this, the designers used Blender, Substance Painter, and Unreal. The first rendered image is of an old military truck, which is being used to transport a large manufacturing device, driving on a remote highway. This acts as an introduction to the characters, showing their profession, and how they operate. The second shot gives a more intimate view into their life, showing what their living situation while on the road is like, the technology they use, and how they get information.
