A device that makes it easier for nicotine addicted Juul users that want to quit to do so. It is an attachment for a Juul that utilizes aversion therapy by releasing a small shock whenever the user presses the button.
Nicotine addictions are one of the most drastic problems for teenagers today. I found that many people who use Juuls want to quit, but fail to do so. Nicotine is a very addictive drug, that has many side effects and withdrawal symptoms that make it hard to stop using it. This obviously makes it very hard to quit all at once, so having something that aids them is very helpful.
Aversion therapy is a habit breaking method that works by associating a bad habit with a negative sensation. In my project, the user presses a button on the attachment that releases a small shock every time they rip a juul. After a while, the brain associates nicotine with the painful shock, and starts to not want the nicotine anymore. Using aversion therapy has shown to be the most affective method of quitting using nicotine products, with a 55% success rate.
