We believe to come up with a good idea you need to iterate, go through several rounds of coming up with many ideas, selecting, and getting feedback. 

So here is your first round -

In teams of 2-3 students, you will be assigned an organ that we have in our body. Think (or google:) about the way it functions, and the way its shape and internal structure support this function. For example  - the folding of the brain to pack more neurons, the branching of the blood circulation to nurture tissues, the air sacs of the lungs...Make a list of this organs' functions.

Come up with a list of new functions you can imagine the synthetic organ of the future will have. Post your two lists in the Updates tab of this assignment.
