In Open Innovation this studio, my group and I worked together to create a story. We wanted this concept to be more original and not usually done, so we decided to combine illustrations and writing in a single story, like a picture or chapter book but for an older audience. Why can't people over the age of 10 enjoy a drawing? After coming up with a clear idea for what we wanted to accomplish over the next 3 weeks, we quickly started brainstorming and planning. Many different story ideas and themes were thrown around for a couple days, until we all came to a collective decision about the plot, using different writing games to narrow down what we were all interested in writing about. After coming up with the plot, we started to develop characters and their relationships between each other, and started creating in depth outlines for each scene and sub scene. Then came the longest part of the project, the drafting. We wrote a lot as a group while Kody focused on the illustrations, but in the end after all the rephrasing and rewriting and formatting; we were proud of the final product.
