Contact to pesticides either through inhalation or skin contact can cause serious illness and growth defects in children. Pesticide contact has also been linked to neurological disorders like AD-HD.

Our shoe must be able to protect children from skin contact with pesticides while still facilitating use in heat. We also need our shoe to be affordable enough to be replaced as a child grows to ensure even impoverished groups can use them .
