Who:Our project is made for climbers who need shoes that you can both walk in and climb in. The 'climbing mode' of our shoes includes spikes in the bottom and a clipper in the front to hook into the rock. The 'walking mode' has the spikes retracted within the shoe and the clipper closed.
Why:In a future world where there are many steep cliffs that the inhabitants would have to climb up, a pair of shoes that can both climb cliffs and that you can walk in would be very helpful.
Biological Strategy
Our shoe attachment mimics some aspects of the goat hoof. The clippers in the front hook into the rock like a goat would, and the spikes hook into smaller crevices in the rock as well.
