What happens when you combine the power of art and computers? Machine art! Using programming, math, and design, we can create fascinating graphics and imagery that would be impossible to produce by hand. Many times, computer algorithms based on natural phenomenon or observed patterns are used to create machine art; other times, experimental algorithms can generate visual graphics reminiscent of our everyday world. With the power of computing, programming, and a creative mind, we’ll create incredible visual pieces, or Machine Art, for the world to experience!
In this studio, students will be learning to create dynamic 2D or 3D visual art pieces using Processing (a programming language), Rhino-Grasshopper (a parametric modeling software), or Python (programming language). We’ll also be looking at experimental interface design, real-time audio-visuals, computational form generation, and data analytics as inspiration. If you’re looking to explore cutting edge information visualization and software art, then join us this Summer as we head into the beautiful world of Machine Art!
