Theater can transport us back to any moment in time while acting may amplify our capability to perceive situations from varying perspectives.
With a critical eye, we will re-contextualize a historical event that altered and shaped the lives of many people. With emphasis on character monologues/dialogues, we will conjure up the past that inevitably reflects the present and considers the potential outcomes of the near future.
Each team will compose a screenplay to perform a short act based around a central event. This event will be collectively decided by the studio and researched in depth. Students will express various viewpoints, unveiling multiple layers and interpretations to a complex history. Working with the coaches, students will design props that convey different scenes and characters.
