The wood skis, designed for people living on Mars, offer a different perspective on a traditional sport from earth. This design allows people to connect with traditions from earth, but with a special twist.

People living on Mars will develop different traditions and sports to accommodate their lifestyle.  The ATMD introduce a sport that is fun to play and entertaining to watch. With Mars' terrain and atmospheric conditions, skiing will be more extreme than earth skiing. The skis are made of wheels attached to wood boards. Springs are attached to the wheels which soften the impact and help skiers reach maximum air. The user controls the ATMD like regular skis, and they are suitable for any weight. These skis are aimed for anyone, from early learners to professionals.

Upside down farming: A structure that can assists plants to grow in high gravity situations. The structure includes buckets that hold a plant upside down, and a watering system that waters each plant at a controlled rate.

The Upside Down Farm is an alternative system, which cultivates a sustainable source of natural food. Without this, people on living on other planets, like Gilese 667cc, would have to consume pre-packaged food from small plastic pouches. This farming system allows people to grow crops found on earth and have access to fresh and healthy food. There is a tube that supports main tube. This holds the plants and has a irrigation system to help them thrive. the  It can  hold a variety of plants and help them grow well in the given environment. Once the plants grow larger, the bucket flips down and allows the plant to continue growing. The Upside Down Farm can be built within one's home or be expanded for commercial use.

Portfolio Day Session 1

Jenny Kinard

Portfolio Day

After the Final Presentation, you have the opportunity to consider your presentation in light of final feedback and discussion. You will spend additional time reviewing you presentations, refining you portfolio, and polishing you work before it is made public on the internet.

The Self Evaluation is an opportunity for you to reflect on your work during the Studio. Students and Coaches receive the same prompts and categories, and the students will evaluate their own progress and skill levels in Design Skills and Subject Skills applicable to the studio both numerically and textually. Through a narrative, you will also reflect on the quality and rigor of your work, give feedback on the studio, and have the opportunity to receive similar feedback directly from the coach.
