session 5: additive design

Kate James

In session 5, we looked at additive design-- the process of designing something by adding materials together in a fluid, expressive way. We thought about how small elements can add up to a large impact, particularly looking at spatial and immersive art installations.

Together, the PreVu students then took over the studio, using yarn and mesh ribbon to transform to space. They worked collaboratively to create an expressive sculpture, and installed a web of material that defined the movement through the studio. They created traps, walls, vortexes, and paths with the simple materials provided.
