Session 9: little tree, big (interactive) forest

For this week, we decided to create individual forest elements, and then add them al together to a plot of land to create a forest. Kids created trees, animals, rivers and waterfalls, as well as unique topographies. They used many of the construction skills they've been working with in the past weeks to achieve their designs: cardboard manipulation, laser cutting, and woodshed skills.

After building up their forest, the kids took a step further and added interactive features. They recorded sounds in Garageband and then coded their sounds to a Bare Conductive sound board, so that visitors could touch elements of the forest and hear different sounds. They also used LittleBits to add wind and lights to their design. The end result was truly impressive!
