Readings and Videos

Raphael Edwards

The video about the Waypoint adventures really showed how impactful the adventures can be for the students. They all looked really happy and the whole experience made me smile. It's amazing to see them do things I would never expect them to be able to do and it defies stereotypes about people with disabilities.

E.B.'s story showed how independent the students like to be. Indeed, she wanted to do the hiking by pushing the wheelchair on her own instead of having her team do it. But Sara's story also reminded of how the team is also very close to the students and help them and it creates a nice bond which the students love. Overall, it was heartwarming to see how grateful they are for the program and only betters my understanding of Waypoint.

These are my sketches. Sorry for the low resolution. I had to rotate them from the scanner pictures, and I am not sure why the resolution is now so low.

Brief takeaways from videos

Benjamin Wilmerding

After reading through the passages on E.B. and Sara, I am thrilled to get to meet them. Both of them seem like courageous and outgoing people who love to explore the outdoors. The GRIT Freedom Chair that E.B. was using on her hike, seems like a great creation for EB to enjoy her adventures and I would love to learn more/talk to her about it!

The video (s), in my mind were a great representation of what these kids are all about in terms of how they like to go about their adventures with a positive mindset and an excited vibe. I am looking forward to going to work with the kids tomorrow and get to hear some of their interests and hobbies through our interviews.
