Imagine this...a boatful of young adventurers take a journey across the ocean to discover new lands. They arrive on an untouched island, and realize that they will have to work together to plan and build their new community, as they wish and desire.
'Kidtopia,' is a kid-centered community design project. In this studio, students will work together on their community plan and design the homes, playgrounds, mobility devices, and other elements that will define their community. They will zoom out to think about large issues like transportation systems (Should there be a zipline network or a biofuel monorail?) and also zoom in to work on specific product and architectural works (What creates an ideal park? What playground equipment can you invent to activate public areas?)
Kids will work both individually and collaboratively to create their ideal community. They will research, debate, prototype, and revise, all the while working in 2D and 3D to plan and model, and bring ‘Kidtopia’ to life!
