a wheel with a bike on top that conveys a memory of lloyd’s mom falling on her bike and getting hurt
My project is a sculpture of a rain cloud that drops raindrops and lights up. I made this project to try to convey the feelings of calmness and happiness that my client, Theo, had when he was on a camping trip, and it started raining, and everyone went into a tent. It works using a servo motor and Arduino, which opens up a hatch on the bottom of the cloud to drop raindrops when you turn a dial, as well as having a led strip for light that also attaches to the Arduino and dial, which is all mounted to a laser cut frame and covered in cloud-like tissue paper. It also has a cover for the electronics on the base, and a mini tent that the raindrops fall on. It makes people feel happy and calm because the light looks cool when diffused through the tissue paper, and it is satisfying how the lights and servo both turn on in sync with the dial.
The Soothing Fireplace is a desktop item that is meant to calm you and summon nice memories of fireplaces. The project uses Arduino to create a realistic flickering effect. The fireplace is made of wood, and bricks have been etched on it using the laser cutter. The sections of wood are held together by wood glue.
Electronic Vessels is a studio in which we are learning how to take memories and the emotion of joy and turn them into objects that use electronics to convey those emotions. My object uses the memory of being on a boat and enjoying that to make a motor of a boat that will be used to teach people how boat motors work and how to fix them to get more people exited to try boating. The goal of this project is to be a scale model of a boat the will work similar so that you could learn how a motor works before you got a real boat. this can also get you more exited for boating and help you if you already have some knowledge about the motor so that if it breaks you can fix it yourself.
The diorama Golden Elk, which has an enormous elk and many lights that resemble the northern lights, will fascinate, surprise, and relax you. This elk appears when a button is pressed, causing the lights to become red. The elk is approaching steadily now that the light has turned purple. In the end, the lights are blue, and there's an elk in the center of the box. Golden Elk demonstrates how something can seem frightening at first but end up not being all that frightening.
