Concept Development
In Identitity Vessels I created 3 different projects. The first vessel I though of was a book, but instead of being filled with words it would be s display for important memorys. It started as a memory form my trip to england, but after some thought I decided I wanted the scenes inside of it to be interchangable. After recieving feedback on my work I decided to split the original idea into two seperate ones. The first would remain a book but instead of being one scene it would just be for any memory. The second was a waterbottle that held a scene of my favorrite place we visited in England. The reason I chose a waterbottle is becasue the object related to the scene better than a book would have. My last project was a container in the shape of a pie that is intended to hold recipes that you enjoy so that you do not forget them. This idea was Inspired by the memories I have of making pie in Vermont with my grandmother and sister.
I Began the studio by thinking of meaningful memories. I took the few momories I could think of and began connecting them to objects that could a have a similar function or just display them, this step was very difficult for me becasue the ideas I had werent easily transformed into objects. I asked questions about the guidlines and I was able to have a bit more freedom and make them more art based than based on functionality. Once I had a few strong ideas I started to make paper prototypes that finctioned by were not very strong. After editing my ideas I moved on and started to make cardboard prototypes. I have a had a lot of practice with cardboard, because my parents were incharge of the Fun House for the fair at my old school, which made me feel in my element. A few days later it was time for the mid review. After receiving feedback on my prototypes I began incorporating it. For the next few days I continued working on our prototypes trying to finalize the designs.Through my different ideas and inventions I grew in many different ways. I think that this shows through my work and how it changed and developed.
