Teo - Joyful Space is an environment where kids, teachers, and guests can relax, socialize, and get work done individually during the school day. A lot of students work for long periods of time and need somewhere where they can destress, and take a break from schoolwork. Taking breaks is sometimes more important than just getting the work done, and having somewhere that makes you feel comfortable and secluded makes the break more impactful.
Joyful space is a room at NuVu where kids, guests, and coaches can meet and lounge or relax if needed. Lots of students work non-stop during the day and getting burnt out is something to be avoided when at school. Joyful space expects students to use it when they feel like they need a mind separation break from all the work they’re doing while still staying at school. The space is required to be very quiet so coaches can meet and have private meetings disconnected from the other parts of the space. Overall Joyful Space is meant for everyone at NuVu that needs a proper mental destressing break.
Mercy - Joyful Space is a project intended for small areas, like NuVu that need somewhere for people to relax. This lounge is designed for students and coaches to go to when they need to take a break, or de-stress throughout the day. Students and coaches will use this space for personal relaxation time, as well as a place to socialize. This can also be used for guests when they come while they wait, or to meet with staff and coaches.
Joyful Space was created with the problem in mind that there is nowhere for coaches, students, and guests to go while they are on breaks, having meetings, or simply just need to decompress. This problem can be solved by having a space that is spilled into an area where someone can go in a personal box or chair to be alone, another space where there are couches and chairs where people are able to socialize, and finally, an area that coaches are able to meet with tables, chairs, and a tv to discuss topics.
