Thesis Statement

With this project, we showcase different stories of trans, nonbinary, and genderfluid people from around the world. This is to give cisgender or questioning people a wider view of the trans experience. Gender as a concept is constantly changing and flowing, and no matter the sort of community one may have, gender plays into this and works alongside it. We want to represent this through a conceptual exhibit that explores themes of escape, community, and fluidity. The exhibit is all connected, to represent that each theme is connected and an essential part of having the others.

Thesis Statement

This project is an object that asks the user to step out of their comfort zone to truly confront ideas of gender and learn about their personal ideas of gender. Filled with macabre imagery and uncomfortable texture, the user must peel back layers of identity to learn about different stories and aspects of transitioning that they may not have known about previously. We aim to leave people with a sense of understanding of how deep gender is tied into identity while also sympathy for those who never receive a chance to feel like themselves.
