This is a bench made using the idea of pet and human interaction. They are made so that your pet can be below you who you are laying on a bench, and if they run through it can rock.

I have three dogs and two cats. I tried to think of ways that i could accommodate a pet with me,  also using my love for interior design. Designing furniture is a passion of mine and I thought I should push myself to create something useful. After many days of brainstorming and help from coaches, I came up with the idea of this bench. Instead of having a lonely bench, and having your dog/cat or other pet on top of you, they can be below.

This helps people who have many animals and sometimes need space from them, or people who want useful furniture.

I used wood to create this and also the idea of lodging together. Since there are two benches, I wanted someone to be able to use this in different ways, so the idea of locking them in different positions together came to mind.

Houseplants bring the beauty of the environment inside and are shown to improve human heath. However, plants often have trouble growing indoors due to irregular sunlight patterns. The Phototrobot aims to optimize a houseplant's ability to grow inside the home with environmentally friendly methods that try to preserve the natural world that's being brought inside.

The Phototrobot is an autonomous robot with a plant on top that follows the sun and is powered by solar panels. It was originally a line following, light tracking robot with a plant on top, but I decided to modify the functionality to include solar panels for the open innovation period. I've always been interested in the environment and fascinated with the technology being used to combat its issues. Last year in my environmental science class, I researched solar panels and wrote an intensive paper on how they work and why they could be a good investment. Since plants and solar panels both search for light, a light tracking robot seemed like the perfect way to combine their similarities. Aside from the benefits of houseplants, The Phototrobot explores how renewable energy can be brought into the home in a small, but meaningful way.

Our project is a wearable sculpture created for Peter, a part of the On Display performance, produced by Heidi Latsky Dance. The purpose is to create a visual representation of Peter's personality. It is a chest plate with attached scissor lifts and vines, reflecting what we discovered about Peter after talking to him.

Peter has Cerebral Palsy in his legs, and thus spends much of his time in his wheelchair. But through this, he still manages to rock climb and go outdoors, his passions. We wanted to take this and put it into a physical realization. We put the overlapping vines into the sculpture to stick with our theme, and in much the same vein we took a picture of leaves, turned up the contrast and used the lines to make the shape our chest plate. We wanted the vines to undulate in and out in a natural way. In order to achieve this, we made the lifts actuate at different times by using different lengths of string routed up and attached to a wristband. Nearly the entire project is is made from thin plywood, with a felt backing for the chest plate in terms of physical materials.
