Public Transportation: Return Trip

By Verity and Noelle

Public Transportation is a video game about a transit system in a large city. You play a journalist who interviews residents about the city’s budgeting, specifically in regards to transportation. The goal of the game is to learn about different perspectives people hold regarding city budgeting.

A lot of budgeting decisions are based on the fact that people prefer funding new developments rather than maintaining existing infrastructure. When this happens, older infrastructure can become decrepit, obsolete, and sometimes even unsafe or uninhabitable, while the push for new things can become controversial. The larger aspect of city budgeting also impacts people who don’t use public transportation and would rather that money be spent on things such as education and healthcare. The game Public Transportation intends to raise awareness of all these issues.
