Studio Brief

Virtual reality offers students the opportunity to leverage advanced creation and storytelling techniques to build explorable worlds. Students will apply their research and design skills in order to produce virtual/augmented reality works that engage ecological topics. Research for the project will be done in partnership with Harvard’s Arnold Arboretum. Students will identify areas of research and create VR experiences that walk students through a specific topic. Potential projects might include a mixed reality tour of the arboretum, interactive storytelling about the origins of plant and tree species, mapping the future of flora in changing climate, Envisioning seasonal changes and time-scales in forestry, designing for urban-nature interface, or visualizing complex microscopic processes.
