Sensory Stadium is targeted towards people with sensory processing issues.
This allows people who can't go to performances to have a safe experience at the Sensory Stadium.
The idea behind the Sensory Stadium is to bring people with sensory processing issues together through a new experience of music.
The Sensory Stadium is specifically designed towards anyone with sensory issues, making people who usually wouldn't be able to have a concert experience have an experience of music customized to their type of SPD (sensory processing disorder).
This article gave us a lot of information about different types of SPD and the types needs and triggers.
We used the different types of SPD to create our venue. This research was very helpful for us to figure out what types we could accommodate and how. This affected our venue a lot by giving us information to make different types of SPD in different bubbles because many different people react to music and stimulation differently, because of that we made 3 different bubbles that the viewer can sit in while having each bubble be safe for types of SPD making the experience for everyone.
This article taught us a lot about actual experiences of sensory issues and how it affects people, using different stories to show how it would be to have sensory issues.
We took this information about these different kids and brought it into our design by considering each issue and story to make sure our venue contains everything that a person with SPD needs and not include anything that is triggering or over stimulating.
An example of this is that we read a story about a boy that got scared and overstimulated over a surprise party because of the sudden loud noise so we took that into consideration and made sure the music we play doesn’t have crazy loud beat drops.
Conceptual precedent- music playing for kids with sensory issues
technical precedent- dining bubble for covid
The audience member can view a performance inside a bubble designed for their specific type of SPD.
If we could continue this project and edit it we would probably make more than 3 bubbles so there could be more specific types to come, and we would also work on researching more to make the bubbles' interior even more specific to each type of SPD.
