Separation of Thought

Final Presentation

Jere Nierenberg

The abstraction of separation of thought displays how difficult it is to focus on anything that one can not see, and demonstrates how challenging it is to think about multiple things simultaneously.

The abstraction is a cardstock object made of 14 concentric cavities, 6 cavities are square, 8 are triangular at their opening. 5 of the square cavities have electronics(LEDs, potentiometers, buttons), the last square is closed off at its opening, it is used to store the wiring for the electronics. The walls of the cavities separate the different components visually, while keeping their behaviors be connected through the wires that run through the center of the object. This creates a sense of complexity, and forces the user to be constantly observing the abstraction from different angles.
