The Tunnel Dome

The Tunnel Dome is an outdoor structure that protects users from weather elements and maintains a comfortable space by regulating the general air temperature. This structure is a no-tech strategy that responds to the environment with its moisture driven apertures that permit air to travel throughout the structure, keeping users content.

The outer layer of the Tunnel Dome has hygroscopic behavior. This wood material can maintain a temperature balance in relatively humid surroundings. It can absorb moisture from the atmosphere when dry and relinquish moisture back when wet. The apertures are triggered to open and closed by responding to the humidity in its surrounding environment. When the Tunnel Domes is positioned in ones backyard, it's inhabited users can remain sheltered and relaxed within the structure. The Tunnel Dome shades its users, but the apertures also permits sunlight to beam inside the structure, which allows natural light.
