Fantastical Biology II
Andrew Perticone & Orion Orozco
Schools do a good job teaching subjects but often fail to spark a passion or even a liking for what they teach. While not meant for use in schools, this project re-introduces biological and ecological concepts through more exciting and whimsical means.
Fantastical Biology is an interactive website containing scientific ideas from Earth with alien-like creatures representing them. This website serves as a mediator between school and hobby, getting students who have an interest in science (but have yet to spark a genuine passion) to fully enjoy the subject of biology. It mainly targets fantasy and animal lovers and will spark an interest in biology through its various elements. Passion is important, and not just for mental health; it is proven that love for a subject leads to better academic performance.
