Documentaries on Urban Memory

This studio takes aim at using documentary film making to document a memory in its different forms--being spatial/physical memory or personal/metaphysical memory. Students will reflect on their (or their family's) memory of Syria and examine ways in which these memories can be embodied in a short documentary film. Students will not only learn about the fundamentals of documentary making, but also about analyzing historical fact, interviewing, journalism, and representation. The films, which address issues of culture, society, and public realm, will be displayed at a public viewing at the end of the studio.

يهدف هذا الاستوديو إلى توثيق الذاكرة بكافة أشكالها (ذاكرة المكان أو ذاكرة الانسان) بطريقة مبتكرة بكل أنواع التوثيق.

سيقوم الطلاب بإنتاج مادة وثائقية بطريقة فنية متعلقة بسوريا إما ثقافية، تراثية، اجتماعية، .... الخ.

سيتعلم الطلاب عدة مهارات منها تحليل البيانات وتجميعها، الكتابة الصحفية والتصوير.
