11-8

Quinn Brown

Today we plotted a cowling for our fan, we test cut some trusses for it and they turned out well. Next class we will assemble the fan and hopefully cut the rest of our parts.

Update

Quinn Brown

Today me and brandon recieved our parts and began to prototype our next stage. Temporarily we duct-taped the box together, with a flexable plastic as a place to put your head through the bottom. Next class we are going to design a fan cowling like is shown in the picture for the fan that will blow air inside of the helmet.

10/18 - New Idea

Quinn Brown

We are thinking of a new design that involves the user putting a box over their head with fans in the sides so that the illusion of wind is still there. Next class we will begin advancing on this idea.

10/12 - Soddering

Quinn Brown

On Wednesday me and Brandon began to revise our origional idea. We came up with a helmet style instead of a full room so we could utilize the Arduino's power.

New Direction

Today Brandon and I decided on a final design. We are going to use 4 stereo speakers in each corner of a polystyrene box. Mr. Ryan is ordering the foam for us and when it arrives we will cut it in the laser cutter.

New Design for our Idea

Zachary Stanley

For our new idea, we are thinking of a bix cardboard box that will be extended from the ceiling.  The box will be hanging and a person can put their head in it from underneath. Next we will have speakers in the four corners of the box.  Addtionally, we will have speakers all across the inside of the box.  The position of these speakers will dictate the position of where the sounds will come from and hopefully pull certain emotions from the subject in the box.

Cheers

Here is Brandon working on our first small-scale model of our future project. In Brandon's post you can find out final materials list in a spread sheet.

Robin enlightens us with Dolby

Zachary Stanley

So Robin came in today (10-10-2016) and told us about Dolby Surround sound 7.1.

The Dolby Surround sound is able to add two discrete channels of sound to increase the realism of all types of movies, games, or any virtuality.  Although the only setback for this is cost.  The Dolby Surround sound 7.1 cost around $1,428.  Right now, today, Brock and I are going to brainstorm what room we will use for the surround sound, and if we will possibly create a room for solely for the purpose of bouncing around to create a more immersive virtual reality experience.

Day 3

Quinn Brown

Today I researched Laser tripwires that if they are broken, it would play a sound, to better immerse the person.  For example, if you where in an arctic enviornment and it where tripped, it would play the sound of crushing snow.
